Blood Pressure simply means that  measurement of that force by which heart pumps blood around the body.Normal blood pressure of the body is 120/80mm/Hg.In old age it is commonly seen that this normal reading comes down.High B.P is considered a serious issue but at the same time low bp should also taken in account.In some case this low BP can make the patient faint.It is mandatory that every patient caretaker should learn measurement of blood pressure.

REASONS OF LOW BLOOD PRESSURE. 

We have outlined a number of reasons for low BP

  • In elderly people dehydration is the major cause so it is mandatory for medical attendant to give water at scheduled intervals.
  • Long-term bedrest is another cause of low BP because in old age muscles get weak and patient avoids to do any sort of physical movement. Patient caregiver should involve these type of patients in some bed exercises.
  • Postural hypotension:-In this type, the BP of patient suddenly drops when there is an attempt to stand from prolonged sitting or lying position.

WHAT SHOULD BE DONE IN LOW B.P

  • There should be more intake of salt for those who were experiencing low BP. This can be done in the form of lemon water or sprinkling on salad.
  • Caffeine plays another important role. It is believed that caffeine helps in elevating blood pressure. This can be taken in the form of coffee.
  • If some patients continuously experiencing this type of problem, then they must seek a doctor advice to rule out any other medical condition.
