Keep your Lungs healthy. What needs to be done?

Your patient’s body receives oxygen from your two lungs, and they also expel gases like carbon dioxide. Numerous illnesses can have an effect on a patient’s lungs. Your lungs make up a large portion of your respiratory system, the network of organs and tissues that allows you to breathe.

Right Lung

The superior, middle, and inferior lobes of your right lung are separated from one another. Even though right lung is wider than your left lung, it is shorter than your left lung. Pleural tissue serves as a protective layer over both of your lungs.

Left Lung

Your left lung has two lobes: the superior and the interior.. Because your heart is in the middle of your chest, your left lung is smaller than your right one.

The cardiac notch, which is where your heart fits, and the lingual, which is an extension of the superior lobe, are two features of the left lung that your right lung lacks.

Basic information on Lungs

• It is possible to survive after having lung lobes removed. Patients are even capable of surviving on one lung.

The only organs in your body that  float are the lungs.

• The patient’s ability to breathe deeper can be improved with exercise.

• The alveoli in an adult range from 300 million to 500 million.

Common conditions and disorders that affect your lungs.

  • Asthma: Patients’ airways become constricted, making breathing challenging.
  • Bronchiectasis: Inflamed bronchi make it difficult to breathe and cause you to cough up mucus.
  • Croup: a respiratory illness that affects young children at the age of 5.
  • Lung cancer: Smoking cigarettes is a significant risk factor for developing lung cancer in patients.
  • Pneumonia, a lung infection that can necessitate hospitalisation and result in fluid in the patient’s lungs.
