Suture care is important in home healthcare .Surgical staples are the most common name for sutures.Sutures or mainly used to close the wound. It can be internal or on the skin surface. Totally depends upon depth of wound

Doctors usually perform suturing in this procedure the two margins of the wound or brought together and shield. Nylon, polyester and silk are some  examples of suture material.

Types of sutures

  • Absorbable: As the name suggests, these type of sutures are absorbed in body. After a certain period, they dissolve on their own; commonly, this type of suturing is done for internal wounds.
  • Non-absorbable.These type of sutures promote better healing on skin surface. It requires removal after a certain period of time.

  • First 24 hrs are very crucial in this the wound mainly remains dry.
  • Clean the wound after 24 hrs only with plain water.
  • Avoid soaking the wound for long Time in water or with wet cloth.
  • The patient’s caretaker can always try to use only coconut oil over the skin’s surface for proper skin healing.
  • Nutrition has important role in healing, a medical carer can ensure a balanced diet rich in vegetables.
  • A trained and experienced physiotherapist’s well-planned exercise programme is essential.
